
Minister of secondary education Nalova Lyonga bans the expulsion of pregnant girls from school.
Professor Nalova Lyonga, has introduced a new guideline which she addresses it to the Divisional Delegate, Educational Secretaries and principals on how to accommodate students who get pregnant.
According to the Minister expelling of pregnant students encourages discrimination and causes girls to drop out from school.
With this , she ask school authorities to allow pregnant girls or women in schools till the 26th week,after which she may be given maternity leave.
Again,the students should be given permission to resume studies after going through health and disciplinary procedure. This also applies in case the person responsible for the pregnancy is a student.
She emphasized that teachers who get students pregnant should receive sanctions .
